Since the day her new job brought her across the country to San Francisco, Emily knew that California was the place she was meant to be. For years, she and her family called the Bay Area home, but when her company went fully-remote, Emily decided to take advantage of the flexibility that came with her new work lifestyle.
Working from home meant that she no longer had to worry about a commute or being tied to an office. It also meant that she and her family had the freedom to move to any city they wished.
Their search eventually led them down to the sunny communities of Southern California that offered the culture, amenities, and resources they were looking for. Here, Emily and her family settled down, but never truly felt at home, jumping from one expensive apartment to the next.
Tired of throwing away her hard-earned money in rent, Emily considered buying instead, but it wasn’t until earlier this year that it became a serious possibility. When her lease renewal came with an unexpected rent increase, it was the last push she needed to make the jump.
She decided to start her home search in earnest, but as she began her journey, she faced the fears and doubts most people have as first-time homebuyers.
“At the time, I didn’t know if it was even possible for me to buy a house,” Emily explained when we chatted a few weeks after she closed on her home. “I thought I needed to have at least a 20% down payment. I had so many questions and no clue where to start. I was nervous about everything,” she said with a laugh.
When Emily first reached out to Samuel, he sat down with her to break down the homebuying process step-by-step and answer all of the questions she had. They discussed her goals in depth, making sure to understand her family’s exact needs and wants.
Samuel then connected her with our trusted lender partner, Abraham, to get started on the pre-approval process. Together, they discussed all of Emily’s options and narrowed down the loan program that would be the best fit for her. Contrary to her previous concerns, it only required a 5% down payment!
A few days later, Emily and her family were out seeing homes with Samuel. And seven homes later, they found the one.
“Right when we saw this house, we knew it was the right one for us,” Emily explained. “It was in the neighborhood we wanted, close to family, and even had hiking trails.”
From there, it was smooth-sailing. Knowing that Emily and her family were all-in on this home, Samuel negotiated a great offer for them, and soon, they were getting ready to move into their dream home.
When asked what the best part of the buying experience was, Emily replied without any hesitation, “It was being able to trust Samuel and Abraham. I didn’t have to stress over any of the paperwork I was signing (and there was a lot!), or the negotiating, or any of the legal aspects, because I knew they had my family’s best interest at heart and were good at what they do. If I had any questions, they had the answers for me, and broke everything down so I can easily understand.”
